The Amazing Spider Man. Due for release July 3rd. Directed by Marc Webb, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen & Sally Field. Plot Summary: we go back to a time before Peter Parker unleashed his suited alter-ego on New York, when he still attended high school. Time for the angst of watching a teenager struggle to balance newly fledged superhero abilities with hormonal angst. After the messy shambles of Spider Man 3, this film is actually generating a good amount of hype and threatens to step away from the ‘squeeze as many Marvel characters onto the screen as possible’ approach previously taken.
The Dark Knight Rises. Due for release July 20th. Directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Morgan Freeman. Plot Summary: in the heavily anticipated conclusion to the revamped Batman trilogy, we rejoin Batman/Bruce Wayne 8-years after the events of The Dark Knight when Batman made the choice to take the blame for Harvey Dent’s actions. Bane appears on the scene, a brilliant and brutal terrorist leader who pushes Gotham’s law enforcement to their limits, with Catwoman also making an impact. Both Christoper Nolan and Christian Bale have categorically stated that they will not return for another Batman film, therefore I cannot wait to see how Nolan brings this brilliant series to a conclusion.
